STAGE 1 | CAION – MALPICA DE BERGANTIÑOS

Highlights

The competition begins with a quick stage of adaptation to the terrain that we are going to find the following days. Stage to take with tranquillity and not to let go knowing that there are more complicated days where we need to have strength to overcome them.

We will begin in the Port of Caión (A Laracha) and we will cross a magnificent stroll to the side of the sea for, after passing by the Beach Salseira do Caracoleiro, to enter us in a very corrible track and without appreciable unevenness with the company of the sea and small coves.

After passing small towns such as Leira and A Pedra do Sal we will arrive at Baldaio and its marsh.

We will enter the largest open sea beach and the second largest beach in Galicia with 6 kms in length, Razo-Baldaio. There we will find the first refreshment station.

We will continue following the route of the Ruta dos Pinos no Mar. This part already begins to have small unevennesses. We will arrive at San Miro Beach, where we will be able to visualize the goal of the day in the distance.

We will go into wooded areas with slopes of different hardness as we pass through villages such as Ardeleiro to enter Malpica de Bergantiños. After the Port of Malpica we will have a last steep climb that will take us to the finish line at the Beach of Area Maior.


STAGE 2 | MALPICA DE BERGANTIÑOS – PONTECESO

Highlights

Long stage and with difficulties to be overcome by the participants. A stage that can become very hard for many if the forces are not dosed.

We begin the second stage leaving from the Beach of Area Maior (Malpica de Bergantiños) to connect with the path that takes us to the Hermitage of San Adrián. From there we enter into fishing trails from where we will contemplate the small archipelago of the Sisargas Islands (Sisarga Grande, Sisarga Chica and Malante) as well as a series of surrounding islets such as Chalreu and Xoceiro.

We will pass by beaches such as Beo and Seiruga to reach the town of Barizo. We will cross its beach to access the Port of Barizo, where the first refreshment of the day will be available. From there we will have to ascend by sinuous and pronounced terrain until arriving at the first great lighthouse of the Costa da Morte: Punta Nariga.

From the lighthouse we will enter an area of singular beauty and difficulty. This is an area of cliffs in which we must be extremely sure of our own safety. We will arrive at a track that will take us to Niñóns Beach. From there we will go to Barda Beach, one of the great treasures of A Costa da Morte, where the second supply of the day will be available.

We will continue for a few kilometres of high difficulty until arriving at the Aldea do Roncudo. From there we will go on to tackle another sinuous area of high technical difficulty until we reach Faro Roncudo.

They will continue a few grateful kilometers that will serve us to recover and to accede to the population of Corme entering by its fishing port and where the last refreshment of the day will be found.

We will leave Corme by its beaches of Osmo and Ermida. We will go into sub-basin paths that will bring us closer to Balarés Beach.

We will follow the route along a path that will bring us closer to the last difficulty of the day: Alto das Travesas. From there we will descend along a tree-lined path that will take us to the finish area of the day in the Plaza del Relleno in Ponteceso.


STAGE 3 | PONTECESO – LAXE

Highlights

Third and final stage. Simple route in its first kilometres to increase in difficulty at each step. You will notice the kilometres of the previous days.

We say goodbye to Ponteceso and after a few urban kilometres we enter the Estuario del Anllóns. Cabana de Bergantiños will first welcome us with a stretch of paths and walks from which we can admire different species of birds.

Once crossed the road we enter in the Rego dos Muiños, footpath that will take us to the high part of the municipality.

Crossing the road very carefully we find the first provisioning of the day. From there we will enter the Iron Age when crossing the beautiful Castro da Cibdá. We will enter villages such as Vilaseco, Dombate with its dolmen and A Fontefría. From there we will ascend to the highest point of the stage, the Castelo de Lourido (312 mts) for a vertiginous descent to be located in Canduas.

After a few kilometres of inner journey, we return to the coastal area. Cross the road again at Taboído to head towards Beach of Rebordelo. Second and last refreshment from where we will walk to the finish line.

Interspersing wooded areas with areas of cliffs we enter the seaside town of Laxe by the beach of the same name. At the end of the extensive sandy area, the long awaited goal awaits us.
